Vernon Subutex is a former record store owner who finds himself homeless after his store closes due to the music industry crisis. While living on the streets, he reconnects with old acquaintances from his store days. Meanwhile, his friend Alex Bleach, a famous rocker, dies of an overdose and leaves behind a will recorded on tape. Several film directors are keen to make a biographical movie about Alex but need Vernon's help to retrieve the will.
