She has acted primarily in Italian films but also appeared in American movies like Oscar (1991) and Once Upon a Crime (1992). Muti was married twice—first to actor Alessio Orano from 1975 to 1981, and later to Federico Facchinetti from 1988 to 1996. She has three children: Naike Rivelli (b. 1974), Andrea, and Carolina. Since 1998, she has been living with plastic surgeon Stefano Piccolo.
