In East Germany during the final days before the fall of the Berlin Wall, high school seniors Anna and Marcus face uncertain futures due to their disqualification from university for bringing Western rock music into their school. While Marcus harbors secret feelings for Anna, she starts a relationship with Randy, a rebellious rock singer. Inspired by tales of Western German terrorists, they kidnap their principal in order to force him to reinstate their academic privileges and allow Anna to return to school. They hide him at Anna's grandmother's house while she is hospitalized. However, their plan goes awry when Grandma returns earlier than expected.
