Set against the backdrop of a decaying seaside resort along the Black Sea coast, 'Anton Chekhov's The Duel' explores the escalating animosity between two men: Laevsky, a dissipated romantic prone to gambling and flirtation who has fled with Nadia, another man's wife, and Von Koren, an arrogant zoologist and former friend who disapproves of Laevsky's irresponsible behavior.
