Essy Ingeborg Vilhelmina Persson, born and raised in Sweden, began her career on stage before being discovered by Swedish film director Mac Ahlberg. She gained international recognition through roles in erotic films offered by American producer Radley Metzger. Notably, she played the lead role in 'I, a Woman' (1965). After her acting career, Persson pursued fine arts, studying at the Art Academy Valand and Konstfack from 1981 to 1984.

In 'Therese and Isabelle', a woman returns to her boarding school after two decades and is flooded with memories of her past experiences there. At age 17, she was abandoned by her mother due to remarriage and sent to this European institution, feeling disenchanted and lonely. She quickly befriends Isabelle, an older, confident girl who rebels against the school's norms.
