Adam, a wealthy industrialist feeling stifled by his colleagues' dismissive view of him as just a 'city suit', decides to stage an opera production at his country estate. An enthusiastic but frustrated amateur opera singer himself, Adam hopes that showcasing his passion for the arts will earn him their respect and perhaps even win the heart of the female conductor he has been pursuing, who happens to be his first hire for the event.
