Yoko Shimada, born in Kumamoto City and raised in Tokyo, began her acting career during junior high school after obtaining an agent. She gained international recognition for her role as Mariko in the 1980 miniseries 'Shogun,' which won her a Golden Globe Award and earned her a Prime-time Emmy nomination. Prior to this, she had studied ballet since age three but shifted her focus to acting during high school. In 1992, at age 39, she released a bestselling nude photo book titled 'Kir Royal.' At 57, she starred in an adult video called 'Mikkai' in 2011 as a tribute to her body. Shimada is known for expressing interest in space burial.

ストーリー
Crying Freeman follows the story of a secret Chinese assassin who sheds tears of regret each time he executes his targets. While carrying out a hit on three Yakuza gangsters, he is witnessed by a beautiful artist who becomes captivated by his graceful killing technique and later falls in love with him. An intense power struggle ensues among the Yakuza Clans after their leader's death, leading them to seek vengeance against the assassin. They soon realize the fatal mistake of underestimating the deadly skills of Crying Freeman.
