Penoza begins in the gritty underworld of Amsterdam where we meet Frans, a powerful drug lord, and his wife Carmen. Their 10-year-old son threatens another child with a gun, leading Carmen to issue an ultimatum to Frans: leave the criminal life or lose his family. However, Frans' past catches up with him as he is shot dead, leaving Carmen to navigate the mess he's left behind, including substantial debts and unfinished business. With a mobster father herself, Carmen proves resourceful in dealing with these challenges, but her newfound role puts both her safety and that of her family at risk.
