Claude Berri's 'Tchao Pantin' follows Lambert, a taciturn man working the night shift at a gas station, who leads a lonely existence marked by drinking and silence. Into his life steps Bensoussan, a charismatic young criminal seeking a spark plug for his stolen moped. An unlikely bond forms between them after they share a drink. When Bensoussan's carelessness makes him a target for his boss Rashid, Lambert is inspired to help avenge the young man he's grown fond of. Lambert seeks assistance from Lola, a punk who knew Bensoussan, and in their interactions, she helps him rediscover his emotions and find renewed purpose in life.
