In 1985 Los Angeles, struggling actress Ruth Wilder auditions for a fledgling professional wrestling promotion called Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW). Traditional in her acting approach and idealistic, Ruth clashes with the show's director Sam Sylvia due to his cynical nature and unconventional methods. Adding tension is the presence of Ruth's former best friend and retired soap opera actress Debbie Eagan, whom Ruth had a falling out with after an affair with Debbie's husband Mark. Now divorced from Mark, Ruth must navigate her complicated past with Debbie while trying to make it in GLOW, promising either to make or break the developing show.

Created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, GLOW offers a blend of humor, drama, and sport, with notable performances by its leading ladies Alison Brie (Ruth Wilder) and Betty Gilpin (Debbie Eagan). The series is an adaptation of the real-life women's professional wrestling circuit that existed in the 1980s.
