Irréversible (2002) begins with a brutal rape scene in an underground tunnel, where Alex, a young woman, is assaulted by a stranger named Pierre. The film then unravels backwards in time to show the events leading up to this horrific incident. Alex's boyfriend Marcus and her ex-boyfriend Pierre, unaware that the rapist shares his name, embark on a violent quest for vengeance. They brutally attack and injure a man they believe is responsible but later discover their mistake. The film concludes with the rape scene, tying back into its opening sequence.
