In 1887, after her gold prospector father's death, Marie-Louise leaves the American West to pursue acting in New York with her mother. While performing on stage one night, she accidentally creates a graceful dance by swirling her dress, dubbing it the 'Serpentine Dance.' The audience loves it, and Marie-Louise transforms into Loïe Fuller. She moves to Paris, dazzling audiences at the Folies Bergères, gaining admirers like Toulouse Lautrec and the Lumière Brothers.
