After a botched gold heist leaves his wife and children dead, former highwayman Ben Hall turns to crime again, this time targeting the wealthy in rural New South Wales during the mid-19th century. Along with his loyal companions, John Gilbert and John O'Connell, they become notorious bushrangers known as 'The Wild Colonial Boys.'
