In a dystopian future Britain, Alex DeLarge (Malcolm McDowell), a charismatic and ultraviolent youth, leads his gang, 'the droogs,' in a spree of rape and murder. After being arrested for one such crime, Alex is sentenced to 14 years in prison. While incarcerated, he volunteers for an experimental aversion therapy program called the Ludovico Technique, which conditions him to reject violence using classical music and nausea-inducing drugs. Upon his release after only two weeks, Alex finds himself unable to bear violence or even defend himself, making him a target among his former droogs and other criminals. As society rejects him and he struggles to adapt, Alex must confront the consequences of his actions and the ethical implications of his treatment.
