In 'O Crime do Padre Amaro' (2005), Father Amaro, a young priest newly arrived in the small town of Leiria, becomes embroiled in a forbidden love affair with Amelia, a beautiful and troubled woman who is involved with a married man. Amelia's lover, Ricardo, is an influential local businessman who uses his power to manipulate both her and Father Amaro. As their relationship deepens, Father Amaro struggles with his vows of celibacy and begins to engage in corrupt activities to maintain his secret life with Amelia. When Amelia becomes pregnant, the situation spirals out of control, leading to a tragic conclusion.

'O Crime do Padre Amaro' is a Portuguese drama film directed by Carlos Coelho da Silva and based on Eça de Queirós' classic novel of the same name.
