In 'Tenebre', a successful American thriller writer, Peter Neal, arrives in Rome for a book tour. Upon his arrival, he finds that someone is using his novels as inspiration to commit brutal murders, mimicking scenes from his books. The killer targets the people closest to Peter, including his translator and her husband. As the body count rises, the police become increasingly suspicious of Peter's involvement, leading him to investigate the crimes himself alongside a young woman named Anne.
