Kommissar Rex follows the recently divorced police officer Richard Moser who adopts a German Shepherd dog named Rex to cope with his loneliness. The duo forms an inseparable bond and becomes an effective crime-fighting team in Vienna. Together, they solve various crimes ranging from murders to drug trafficking, often relying on Rex's keen senses and tracking abilities.
