Upon his release from prison, Bruno returns to Paris hoping for a fresh start. His first stop is his estranged father's apartment, where he discovers that his stepmother has moved in and his old room has been occupied by his younger half-brother, Pierre. Bruno struggles to find work and resorts to petty crime to make ends meet. Meanwhile, he becomes involved with a woman named Véro, who is also struggling financially. As Bruno's criminal past catches up with him, he becomes increasingly reckless, putting himself and those around him in danger.
'Un mauvais fils' (Bad Blood) is a 1980 French drama film directed by Claude Sautet. The film explores themes of redemption, family dysfunction, and the struggle to break free from one's criminal past. Bruno, played by Patrick Dewaere, embodies the film's titular phrase as he attempts to reintegrate into society after his release from prison but repeatedly falls back into his old habits. The film is notable for its stark portrayal of the harsh realities faced by ex-convicts and its exploration of the complex dynamics within a troubled family.
