In the isolated Swiss Alps, three lonely shepherds, starved of female companionship, create a life-sized doll named Sennentuntschi from straw, rags, and other materials. They bring their creation to life through an ancient pagan ritual, imbuing it with human-like qualities. Initially content with their new companion who cooks, cleans, and tends to them, tensions rise when the shepherds' desires for Sennentuntschi grow darker.
