In the new chapter of 'Fargo', set in 1979 Sioux Falls and Luverne, young State Police Officer Lou Solverson, recently back from Vietnam, investigates a case involving a local crime gang and a Kansas City mob syndicate expanding into small-town America. Assisting him is his father-in-law, Sheriff Hank Larsson. The investigation leads them to colorful characters like Karl Weathers, the town lawyer, Joe Bulo, the front man for the northern expansion of the Kansas City syndicate, and his number two, Mike Milligan. Meanwhile, in Fargo, Floyd Gerhardt takes over her crime family's business after her husband falls ill, causing friction with her ambitious eldest son, Dodd. Lou and Hank's investigation intersects with these criminal dynamics as they strive to unravel the case.
