Terry Griffith, a popular high school senior with a seemingly perfect life, becomes convinced that her journalism teacher's decision to publish articles by boys over hers is due to sexism. Determined to win a summer internship at their local newspaper, Terry decides to go undercover as a boy at a rival high school to resubmit her article. During this disguise, she encounters unexpected challenges: she has to fend off a bully named Louis and the advances of an oversexed female classmate named Bigpuff. As time passes, Terry begins to develop feelings for her new friend Rick, further complicating her mission.
