Gemma Christina Arterton, born February 2, 1986 in Gravesend, Kent, England, is an English actress and producer. She made her feature film debut in 'St Trinian's' (2007) before gaining international recognition as Bond Girl Strawberry Fields in 'Quantum of Solace' (2008), winning an Empire Award for Best Newcomer. Notable roles include 'The Disappearance of Alice Creed' (2009). She has since appeared in various films like 'Tamara Drewe', 'Clash of the Titans', and 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters'. Arterton has also had successful stage career, winning awards for her performances in 'Made in Dagenham' and 'Nell Gwynn'. Martin, an ex-Parisian baker and Flaubert enthusiast living in a Norman village, becomes intrigued by the arrival of Gemma and Charles Bovery, an English couple who seem to embody characters from Flaubert's 'Madame Bovary'. Gemma Bovery (2014) is a comedic drama directed by Anne Fontaine, loosely based on Posy Simmonds' graphic novel of the same name.
