ストーリー
In the Soviet Union during the Stalin era, a group of artists are tasked with creating a mural depicting happy peasants and workers for a new government building. The lead artist, Fyodor, struggles with his conscience as he realizes that the mural is intended to glorify Stalin's regime while ignoring the harsh realities of life under communism. As Fyodor begins to incorporate true images of suffering into his painting, his fellow artists grow concerned about his deviation from the official line and report him to the authorities. Meanwhile, a young woman named Zoia arrives at the studio, claiming to be an apprentice artist but secretly working as an informant for the government. She becomes involved with Fyodor, further complicating his situation. The film follows Fyodor's attempts to express his true beliefs through his art while navigating the dangerous political climate of Stalin's Russia.
