Jeanette Hain was born in Munich, Germany. She studied at the School of Television and Film there, where she met director Sherry Hormann who cast her in 'Die Cellistin - Liebe und Verhängnis', her first leading role. Since then, Hain has acted in German and international films as well as on stage to critical acclaim. She is a mother to two children, Jonas and Malou.

THE READER begins in post-war Germany where teenager Michael Berg becomes ill and is helped home by Hanna, a stranger twice his age.
