In the isolated Italian village of Accendura, young Bruno Lo Casio disappears, sparking an investigation by local authorities and eventually drawing the attention of city journalist Andrea Martelli (Tomas Milian). As more children are found murdered, suspicion falls on a local witch named Maciara, but she is eventually proven innocent. Despite this, the superstitious villagers take justice into their own hands, brutally killing her. Martelli befriends Patrizi, daughter of a wealthy entrepreneur living in Accendura after a drug scandal, and together they investigate further with the help of Don Alberto Avallone, the village priest who has a group of boys playing soccer at his church. They suspect that Avallone's slow six-year-old daughter may have witnessed the crimes and could hold vital information about the identity of the killer.
'Non si sevizia un paperino' (1972) is an Italian horror-thriller directed by Lucio Fulci, set in the backward village of Accendura. The film follows the disappearance and eventual murder of several children, drawing suspicion onto various villagers before ultimately revealing a more sinister presence at work. Despite being initially received poorly due to its graphic content, it has since been reevaluated and is now considered a cult classic within the splatter film genre.
