Gregorio, a 22-year-old schizophrenic man, plans an elaborate revenge scheme after discovering that his girlfriend Tania cheated on him with his best friend Manuel. Having been in and out of mental hospitals for years, Gregorio's mental state worsens upon learning about the affair. Despite appearances of reconciliation when he is discharged from the hospital, Gregorio ultimately commits suicide. Posthumously, Manuel receives a box containing Gregorio's notes, lyrics, and other personal items. Strange occurrences begin: unsigned letters quoting Gregorio's writings are sent to Manuel, and he starts hearing excerpts from these letters in conversations and media, leading him to question his own sanity.
El búfalo de la noche is a 2007 drama film directed by Jorge Hernández Aldana. The movie revolves around Gregorio, a young man struggling with schizophrenia who seeks revenge after discovering his girlfriend's infidelity with his best friend Manuel. The narrative explores themes of mental illness, betrayal, and the lasting impact of one's actions on others. The story is unique in its portrayal of Gregorio's elaborate revenge scheme and its aftermath, as it blurs the line between reality and paranoia.
