In 1970s London, Brian Slade, a fading hippie musician, transforms himself into Maxwell Demon, a glitter rock sensation after being inspired by the raw performance of Curt Wild at a live concert. As Maxwell Demon, Slade becomes an androgynous icon for misfits worldwide with his hedonistic lifestyle. At the height of his fame, Slade plans his own demise to escape the limelight, alienating fans and disappearing into obscurity. Ten years later, journalist Arthur Stuart investigates Slade's disappearance, forcing him to confront his own past and its similarities with Slade's transformation.
