Óscar Domínguez was a Spanish painter who became an influential figure in French Surrealism during his time. Born with a disfiguring disease resembling that of 'The Elephant Man,' Óscar believed himself to be a monster and lived a wild, self-destructive life. Despite this, he created remarkable art fueled by his experiences, love, loneliness, sex, and violence. Set against the backdrop of Nazi-occupied Paris, Óscar's story is one of self-discovery, passion, and ultimately, tragic fate as he commits suicide fifty years before the film's release.
