Chloe, a young Canadian doctor working with the Red Crescent in Ramallah and living next door to her friend Ava, an Israeli soldier in Jerusalem, navigates the complex conflict between Palestine and Israel. She crosses daily through the checkpoint between the two cities to monitor the pregnancies of women at a refugee camp. Chloe befriends Rand, one of her patients, and learns about life in the occupied territories while spending time with Rand's family. Straddling both sides of the conflict, Chloe attempts to build bridges among friends but struggles as she remains a perpetual outsider.
