Thirty-seven-year-old Jordan Abrams, a Winnipeg-based accountant who has been in love with Rachel Stern since he was twelve, plans to propose to her during their week-long romantic vacation at Niagara Falls. However, Rachel unexpectedly dumps him just before the trip because she finds him sexually uninteresting. Heartbroken but determined to win Rachel back, Jordan goes on the vacation alone and meets up with his college friend Dandak in Toronto. Dandak, a self-proclaimed 'sex machine,' tries to help Jordan get over Rachel by introducing him to the dating scene. Meanwhile, Jordan befriends Julia Bowe, a stripper who agrees to pose as his girlfriend in a photograph meant to make Rachel jealous. Due to Dandak's changing circumstances and Jordan's desire to improve his sexual prowess, he turns to Julia for guidance, with Jordan helping her manage her finances in return. Throughout their unconventional relationship, both Jordan and Julia learn valuable lessons about love, sex, and self-awareness.
