Zoe Hart, a fast-talking New Yorker and top medical school graduate, has her dreams shattered when she's unable to follow in her father's footsteps as a cardio-thoracic surgeon. Seeking a fresh start, Zoe accepts an offer from the enigmatic Dr. Harley Wilkes to join his small medical practice in Bluebell, Alabama. Upon arriving in this quaint Southern town, Zoe discovers that Dr. Wilkes has passed away and left her his half of the practice in his will. Hart of Dixie is an American comedy-drama television series that aired from 2011 to 2015. Created by Leila Gerstein, the show follows Zoe Hart, a young woman who leaves behind her fast-paced New York life for the small Southern town of Bluebell, Alabama. Initially intended as a temporary measure, Zoe's stay in Bluebell becomes more permanent after she inherits half of the town's medical practice from Dr. Harley Wilkes.
