In spite of their young age and Alsatian roots, Alice and Lisette are forcibly recruited in Germany during World War II at just 17 years old. After enduring six months of indoctrination, they're sent to a munitions factory where they face harsh conditions. When an explosion occurs, the girls are accused of sabotage and threatened with being transferred to a military boot camp. However, they're instead moved to a maternity facility run by German officers. Despite believing they've found respite, Alice and Lisette continue to grapple with the harsh realities and horrors of war even in this supposedly safer environment.
