Andrea Louise Riseborough, born November 20, 1981, is an English actress and producer. She made her film debut with a small role in Venus (2006) and has since appeared in prominent roles such as Happy-Go-Lucky (2008), Never Let Me Go, Brighton Rock, Made in Dagenham, W.E. (2011), Shadow Dancer, Disconnect (both 2012), Welcome to the Punch, Oblivion (both 2013), Birdman (2014), Nocturnal Animals (2016), Battle of the Sexes, The Death of Stalin (both 2017), Mandy, Nancy (both 2018), The Grudge, and Possessor (both 2020). For her role in To Leslie (2022), she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Outside of film, Riseborough has been recognized for her TV roles including Margaret Thatcher in The Long Walk to Finchley (2008) and stage performances such as Miss Julie and Measure for Measure.

W.E. is a romantic drama that interweaves two love stories set apart by six decades. In modern-day New York, Wally Winthrop (Abbie Cornish), a married woman and an employee at Sotheby's, becomes captivated by the story of Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough) and her affair with King Edward VIII that led to his abdication in 1936. As Wally delves deeper into their love story, she becomes increasingly obsessed and begins to see parallels between her own life and that of Wallis. Through Wally's growing fascination, we witness the tragic love story of Wallis and Edward unfold, interspersed with Wally's own crumbling marriage. As Wally learns about the sacrifices Wallis made for her love, she finds the courage to confront her own unhappiness and make changes in her life.
