Story
In the remote Ilocos countryside of the Philippines, Tonya, a sexually repressed young woman, teaches catechism to local children while secretly harboring feelings for Simon, the attractive butcher who has affairs with other women like Mona. Tonya's friend Selda returns from the city after five years with her American lover Ronald, who leaves soon afterward. Selda is promiscuous and holds liberal views on sex, contrasting with Tonya's guilt-filled attitudes. The arrival of Selda disrupts the dynamics between Tonya, Simon, and other villagers.
