In Cambridge, England, in the present day (1985), the spirit of Aleister Crowley, a renowned Neo-Pagan who died in 1947, inhabits the body of Haddo, a mild-mannered and stuttering professor. Over four days, Crowley's influence causes bodies to pile up as his followers engage in occult rituals for an impending extravaganza. Lia, a tenacious red-headed campus reporter, investigates the string of mysterious deaths, putting herself in grave danger. Meanwhile, Mathers, a scientist recently arrived from Cal Tech, might hold the key to Lia's fate and unraveling the truth.
