Matt Benson, an FBI investigator, moves to the island of Panarea with his family under a witness protection program after he testifies against a mafia boss. They live in a luxurious house facing the Ginostra volcano. Soon after their arrival, Matt encounters Ettore Greco, an orphaned boy whose family was killed by the mafia. For security reasons, Matt decides to bring Ettore into their home, much to his wife Jessie's dismay. As they try to adapt to their new life, secrets from Matt's past begin to surface, putting their family in danger and revealing a tragic connection between him and Ettore. The peaceful exterior of their island home gradually gives way to fear and tension as the mafia closes in.
