Carlito's Way: Rise to Power (2005) follows Carlitos Martinez, a young man growing up in Spanish Harlem during the 1960s. Orphaned at an early age and raised by his older brother Joe, Carlitos becomes involved in petty crime. After Joe is sentenced to prison for manslaughter, Carlitos steps into his brother's role as the family's provider, turning to a life of crime full-time.
