Robert Woodfield, a criminal defense attorney with a questionable ethical compass, defends Martin Ritter, a convicted killer. After securing Ritter's acquittal, Woodfield meets with a friend who hints at revealing something important. Suddenly, masked men kill Woodfield's friend; one of them is revealed to be Ritter. Bound by confidentiality, Woodfield can't expose Ritter's involvement but starts investigating his friend's murder. He discovers that his friend had stumbled upon a significant secret and was subsequently framed for murder along with his wife to force him off the case. As both Woodfield and his wife become targets, he races against time to uncover the truth before they're silenced permanently.
