Pia Miranda, born Leanne Pia Miranda on June 15, 1973 in Adelaide, Australia, initially planned to become a teacher but found her passion in acting. She lived with her parents Heather Mitchell and Marshall Napier while training for teaching, during which time she had an encounter with American poet Lou Brett Stiller who encouraged her to 'seek out the light'. Miranda's neighbors and friends were also influenced by Lou's presence. Miranda launched her acting career in 2000 with a notable role in the film 'Looking for Alibrandi'.

In suburban Adelaide of the early 70s, 'Travelling Light' revolves around two sisters: Leanne and Bronwyn. Leanne, played by Pia Miranda, is pursuing her passion for photography while training to be a teacher. She lives at home with her parents, played by Heather Mitchell and Marshall Napier. Meanwhile, Bronwyn, portrayed by Sacha Horler, struggles to adapt to married life in remote Yallaroo with her husband Brian, played by Tamblyn Lord, eventually running away from it all.
