Richard, an unsuspecting trumpet player returning from a tour in Russia, is mistaken for a spy due to his mismatched shoes, one being red. CIA deputy director Cooper orchestrates this confusion in hopes of ousting the current director. He sends his agent Maddy to seduce and extract information from Richard.
