After spending two years in prison for drug abuse, Jack Mayfield returns home to his wife Alma and young son Raymond. Seeking redemption and a fresh start, Jack accepts a job offer from his brother Mike, who is also the town's preacher, as the night watchman of an old, abandoned mine. The mine is suspected to be a hub for black market activity due to its remaining industrial materials.
Jack struggles with his past demons, including his violent childhood memories and alcoholism. Meanwhile, Alma starts to suspect that Mike harbors inappropriate feelings towards her. As Jack begins his night watch duties, he becomes increasingly convinced that there is something supernatural lurking in the mine, watching him from the shadows.
