Cosmo Vittelli, the owner of a seedy Hollywood cabaret, has a long-standing gambling problem that leads him into debt with mobster Mort. Unable to pay back his debt after losing big at Mort's underground casino, Cosmo is offered an alternative: eliminate a troublesome bookie protected by the Mafia as repayment. Cosmo must navigate the dangerous world of organized crime in Los Angeles while trying to protect himself and those he cares about from the consequences of his actions.
