In Darkness tells the true story of Leopold Socha, a thief and burglar who risks his own life to save a dozen Jewish refugees in the Nazi-occupied Polish city of Lvov. Initially motivated by greed, Socha hides the refugees for 14 months in the sewers beneath his apartment building, charging them for their safety. As time passes, Socha's relationship with the Jews evolves, and he becomes deeply committed to protecting them.
