Otto Wall's life takes an unexpected turn when his wife informs him of her plans to divorce him during a counseling session. Shocked and unprepared, Otto struggles to come to terms with the sudden change in his marital status. In an attempt to cope with his newfound singlehood, Otto engages in several one-night stands while also trying to maintain a connection with his daughter. At a class reunion, he seems drawn to rekindle an old flame with an ex-girlfriend. As the film progresses, it is revealed that Otto's wife has been unfaithful and uses Otto's actions as justification for her decision to divorce him. In the end, Otto admits that he knows about his wife's affair and points out her hypocrisy in being a role model for their daughter.
